🐝 Bee Together: A Call to Community

We are living through times of great upheaval—where peril and possibility walk side by side. In the midst of this, Our Lady of the Bees calls us toward community, creativity, and joyful, sacred action.

My offering is simple:
To freely share Her wisdom—
the symbol-rich beauty of bees—
and the golden threads of meaning we can follow toward purpose, connection, and yes, even joy.

And puns. Apologies in advance. There will bee puns.

This post is about the power of community. I plan to unpack the symbology of bees into actionable ways to be present and build the world we all want to live in even amidst the chaos. Have ideas? Please share in the comments or message me.

🐝 The Buzz About Community

I’m what you might call a hybrid introvert/extrovert—or more precisely, an introvert who can thrive in bursts of extroversion before needing to retreat to my cozy cave. I know community life isn’t always easy for introverts (or the socially tenderhearted), but with a little creativity and gentleness, I believe it’s possible to make it work—even if that “community” is just four people around a backyard fire.

We were made for connection. And I think many of us cracked open during the pandemic in ways we’re still trying to understand and mend.

🐝 The Joy of a Rally

At the No Kings rally last month, my joy meter got juiced up. Being surrounded by people who care, chant, laugh, and show up—that quelled the part of me that sometimes feels so alone in this mess.

At one point, a guy drove by and flipped us off.
Without missing a beat, several of us shouted:
“You can’t make me hate you!”

That? That was a honey moment! We swarmed and gave honey.
No other birds were flipped. A few cybertruck drivers passed by, heads low, eyes forward.

I left with a full heart—and I’ll bee there next time and every time.

🐝 Book Clubs

Whether it’s inspirational fiction, historical reckonings, or thought-provoking political reads, book clubs offer a nectar-rich chance to think deeply and feel informed and energized. I’ve been inspired by The Ink Book Club, a vibrant community of concerned citizens and big-hearted readers who love democracy. Come buzz with us.

🐝 Garden Clubs & Farm Service

Have you noticed more local gardeners offering lessons, or small farms opening up space to learn and help with harvests? I have—and it’s beautiful.

Hands in the dirt, sun-warmed fruit in hand, the sound of pollinators and neighbors nearby…
Yes, please. Let’s make that happen.

🐝 Neighbor Challenge

Here’s a small, brave act:
Introduce yourself to a neighbor you don’t know.

Maybe bring a jar of jam or a few fresh peaches.
You don’t have to become best friends. But bridging the gap with kindness?
That’s radical work. That’s honeycomb building.

🐝 Potluck

Invite a few people over for a simple potluck or outdoor picnic. Shared meals—especially across differences—build warmth, trust, and curiosity.

🐝 Micro-moments of care

Smile. Say hello. Offer to help carry groceries. Hold the door open. Leave a flower on a doorstep. Let that person make a left turn. Tiny acts build invisible threads of peace. This is another reason I love Hawai’i all of these things are an every day occurrence.

May your days be filled with small swarms of kindness, shared sweetness, and a few good puns.
Let’s Bee Together. 💛
