Our Lady of Bees devotional for Peace in the Middle East

I was raised Catholic and grew up asking for Great Mother Mary for help—because let’s be honest, if you want something done, you ask Mom! While I am no longer a practicing Catholic, my devotion to the Holy Mother is deeper than ever.

I create and sell rosaries and prayer beads as a form of spiritual expression and connection. One special line I’m working on is dedicated to Our Lady of Bees. I chose this title because of the rich symbolism found in bees: they work together in harmony, pollinate plants so they can bear fruit, and create honey—a substance that nourishes, heals, and never spoils. Their wax gives us candles that bring light in times of darkness. Bees live in a community centered on care and cooperation, and that deeply inspires me. This, I believe is what we need now.

Proceeds from these beads are supporting a GoFundMe that’s helping get much-needed supplies to a village in Palestine, organized by a friend of a friend. Through this effort, I’ve connected with Ziad, who lives in Husan—a small village just a few miles outside of Bethlehem.

Today I had a quick video meeting with Ziad, my friend Rachel, and their friend Marc, who kindly translated into Hebrew for us. How amazing is it to be having these kinds of real-time connections across the world??

Marc and Ziad have shell & nut leis (sent to them from Rachel) and put them on for our meeting. Ziad’s lei was black and yellow, just like a bee. I couldn’t help but see that as a beautiful and meaningful sign.🐝 Also, aloha is universal!

I’m going to arrange a Zoom call for anyone who would like to be in touch with Ziad and know first hand the situation in his town. We will have Marc translate for us (unless you are fluent in Hebrew). I’m thinking early August. Please email me if you are interested in this. RevJulienne@gmail.com

Please find a message from Ziad below and do consider supporting peace and humanity by donating to the GoFundMe. Either way – Please pray for peace!

To Our Dear Christian Friends in America

In the name of the families of Husan village, and from the depths of our hearts, we send you our warmest thanks and deepest appreciation.

During these difficult days—when war surrounds us, when fathers and mothers are unable to work, and when hope sometimes seems distant—you stood with us.

Your support, your prayers, and your generosity brought light into homes darkened by uncertainty. You offered not just material help, but a message of love, faith, and solidarity that we will never forget.

You reminded us that Christ’s message of compassion and peace still lives on through people like you—people who give without expecting, who care without borders.

May God bless you abundantly for your kindness.
May your families always be surrounded by love and grace.
And may we one day welcome you in peace, in a village that remembers your names with love.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Ziad Sabatin
