A Cosmic View of the Glorious Mysteries

I recently re-discovered the more than amazing Father Seán ÓLaoire. He’s my second favorite Irish former Catholic priest. (The late John O’Donohue is the first.) No longer a formal part of the Church, he is the Spiritual Director of Companions on the Journey a group based in Northern California. He also has a BA in Mathematics, an MA and a PhD in Transpersonal Psychology and is a licensed Clinical Psychologist.

I first heard of Seán about 10 years ago in an interview with him about his scientific studies on the efficacy of prayer. I was blown away by his wit and wisdom and read his book, Spirits in Spacesuits: A Manual for Everyday Mystics. I ate it up with a spoon. Something in me was ready to connect my Catholic inheritance to something beyond the dogma and his work has helped immensely.

I found the YouTube channel where his homilies and discussions amongst the Companions on the Journey are kept and have truly been enjoying their richness and insight.

Please enjoy this long form video (you know, more than 3 minutes 😚) on a mystical perspective of the Glorious Mysteries of the rosary. There are plenty more to enjoy including this one on the rosary as a map of spiritual evolution which unpacks the Joyous Mysteries.

This homily seeks to decode the mystical meaning of Resurrection, Ascension, Pentecost, the Assumption of the Virgin Mother and her Coronation as Queen of Heaven. It shows both Jesus and Mary, not as unique exceptions but rather as prototypes of where human evolution is headed.
